Regatta is a charming gated community in Dana Point, California. Located in the Monarch Beach area, it is right off the Pacific Coast Highway, and boasts stunning ocean, harbor, and Catalina Island views.
Regatta is across from The Strand at Headlands development, and near the St. Regis Resort & Spa as well as the Ritz Carlton. It’s also south of the neighborhood of Niguel Shores. This is a small neighborhood of 119 homes, which offer between two to three bedrooms. The taxes are low, and there are no Mello Roos. Home Owners Association dues cover the gated entrance, the community swimming pool, and spa.
Residents here enjoy being within walking distance to the Strands Beach and the Dana Point Nature Center, which offers an educational experience and easy hiking trails. There are many restaurants and stores nearby. And the Dana Point Marina serves the local boaters, with over 1,400 slips that can accommodate vessels up to 85 feet in length.
The community is served by the Capistrano Unified School District, which offers highly ranked facilities like Marco Forster Middle School. Dana Hills High School is also top notch and opened in 1972 making it one of the oldest high schools in the region. Its cross country team has won several state titles. There are also several private schools in this city, such as Broderick Montessori School, Capo Beach Christian School, and Gloria Del Lutheran Preschool.
The City of Dana Point is a popular surfing destination as it has one of the few Orange County coast harbors. It was named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr. who wrote Two Years Before the Mast, describing this area as the “only romantic spot on the coast.” The harbor now features a replica of the Pilgrim, Dana’s ship. Dana Point holds several events including the Festival of Whales that began in 1972, and the Tall Ships Festival which is one of the largest events on the West Coast.
